What can I say about Just Dance 2022? I love a good rhythm game and this is a good rhythm game. That’s no secret, they’ve kept the same formula from 2009 and added sugar and spice every year. The dance moves are a bit more elaborate each year. To make things a bit more accessible and inclusive they’ve added new ways for more people to participate like logging in on your phone or playing with the AppleTV remote. My heart loves the complexity of the dance moves, Co-op mode, and Sweat mode; but my knees can’t quite keep up. The new stages are kind of wild. Here’s a clip of me dancing to Smalltown Boy on my Twitch channel. Look at how vibrant and interactive it is.
The graphics are amazing but I haven’t seen any substantial change in the dancers or the crispness of the outlines. The biggest change is the interactive maps — and the number of KPop songs now available. There is a whole playlist with just Kpop. There is also a feature to make your own list with all the KPop, Hip Hop, or Pop songs available. There are 40 new songs on Just Dance 2022 not to mention the 700 songs added by the Just Dance Unlimited subscription. It’s overwhelming to search through the entire library distinguishing between old songs and new songs. If you’re wondering, Just Dance Unlimited is $3.99 for one month, $9.99 for three months, and $24.99 for a year.

Songs that I would’ve liked to see, obviously any Meg Thee Stallion, new Rihanna, anything from Beyonce’s Black is King and Drogba by Afro B — I mean, does he not deserve? I would love to see more Afrobeats on Just Dance — kind of. There is one song, Jerusalema and it is fire! Afrobeats is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora like Afrofusion and Afropop. It’s fun to share culture and dances but there are so many culture vultures out there I’m a bit torn. I would love to see Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Wiz Kid, MORE DANCEHALL, PERIOD! I’m talking Spice, Shenseea, Vybz Kartel. It’s about time to put Tony Matterhorn’s Dutty Wine on Just Dance, it just is, don’t at me.
This part is for the streamers searching, “How do I stream Just Dance without a copyright strike?” The simple answer is, you don’t! There are very few songs that will not get muted during your stream. I played around with a few songs and Facebook Gaming turned my livestream off and deleted the vod like, excuse me? I’m going to give you some songs that are safe to livestream on third party sites.

Overall, I love the game, I love to dance, I love the expansion of the culture with old school Dancehall, yes Sean Paul’s Temperature is old school now, and the addition of Kpop. I give Just Dance 2022 4/5 stars.
