How to Go Live on Instagram with Streamlabs
Go live on IG using Streamlabs desktop or mobile
Streamlabs released a new feature a few weeks ago for users to go live on IG. IG is now allowing gameplay, but not in the 1920x1080 or 16:9, horizontal. Gameplay, or any other content, can be streamed in 1080x1920 or 6:9, vertical. Streamlabs making streaming to IG more personal by adding customized scenes and notifications.
I don’t if you were there in the early days of streaming when everything had to be done manually. When I wanted to create vertical content, I went into OBS and dragged the screen to 9:16. You don’t have to that in StreamLabs. In this new feature, they made an adaptation mode for their desktop app by adding an option top automatically change the current horizontal setup to a vertical one.
Here’s a quick tutorial on how to go live on Instagram with Streamlabs:
- Sign up for Streamlabs if you haven’t already, grab an account for Streamlabs
- Download Streamlabs desktop app. You can use the web browser version
- Go to Settings on the bottom left of the screen
4. Click Stream on the right panel of the Settings tab
5. Click Add Destinations this is where you enter your IG stream URL & stream key or choose Connect Instagram Account
6. Go Instagram account and click Create Live Video to get your URL & Stream Key
7. Choose your audience
8. Copy Stream Key & URL don’t close the tab
9. Paste Key & URL into Streamlabs
10. Click on Video on the left panel of Settings and look for Vertical the settings are standard and they’re adjustable
11. Click on Enable Dual Output
12. Click Done then click Go Live and Click the switch on Instagram (Choose horizontal or vertical for your output. However, you have to stream horizontal to one platform otherwise you can’t go live. And IG doesn’t do horizontal output even though it has the option.)
13. Going live on IG means, you have to go live on another platform because IG isn’t a streaming platform. Multistream is free to do without Streamlabs Ultra, but you can only stream to two platforms. Before going live, make sure you have your scenes the way you want them and vertical is adjusted to see the center of your screen. Once live, you can’t adjust the screen position.
14. Confirm and Go Live
15. Go to Instagram click Go Live
16. You’re all set!
