Mobile gamers have a few options when it comes to use controls on their phone

Mobile gaming has become more popular. There are a lot more options besides Candy Crush and Subway Surfer. I’m showing my age, which I don’t mind. I can’t help but think that a Gen Z would mention Call of Duty: Mobile.

If capitalism is gonna do anything, it’s gonna produce products for a trend. Thus the mobile game controller market is born! It’s not a bad thing. Sometimes I want to lie in bed and play a game on my phone. Without the fear of dropping the phone on my face. Plus, these controllers are just for comfort. They support cloud gaming making it easier to play games on the go or just in a different room than a console or PC. Most mobile game controllers don’t have Nintendo Switch support — this isn’t a surprise. One, Nintendo don’t play like that. Two, it’s a mobile console itself.

Let’s look at a few controller options.

This listicle is to give you options for controllers. I can’t rate most of these because I haven’t been able to try them. So, lower your expectations.

  1. Backbone
  • Backbone is a mobile controller for iOS and Android.
  • PlayStation and Xbox button layouts
  • No console is required & supports cloud gaming. Can also stream console or PC games to your phone — console/PC has to be up and running
  • Most cloud game requires memebership
  • Supports Google & App/Arcade Store games
  • Runs on phone battery

$/€ 99 Backbone

2. Razer Kishi V2

  • For Android and iOS
  • Supports Steam Link, PS Remote Play Geforce Now, & Xbox games
  • Xbox button layout
  • Organizes games into a hub
  • No membership required

$/€ 99 Razer Kishi V2

3. GameSir

  • Multiple controllers for Android: Galileo, X2, Pro Xbox official controller
  • X2 iOS compatible
  • Runs on phone battery
  • Xbox controller layout
  • Moveable Type C Port
  • Supports PS Remote Play, Xbox Game Pass Games, Steam Link & Moonlight games
  • No membership
  • Affordable pricing

$/€69 GameSit X2

4. Turtle Beach Atom

  • For Android phones
  • Rechargeable battery — still connects to the phone
  • 20 hours of battery life — 2.5 hours of charging
  • Compact size — two separate controllers to each its own batteries
  • No membership
  • Supports Games Pass, GeForce Now, Steam Link, and other cloud gaming services

$/€99 Turtle Beach Atom

All of these controllers connect directly to the phone charger port. While most of these support both Android and iOS. There is an overwhelming amount with Android support and a bit of complications with iOS. There will be patches that make this issue obsolete. The most customizable controllers on this list my cosmetic have to be GameSir and Turtle Beach. As far as button layout and software options, Backbone and Razer Kishi V2.

Which one of these do you think fits your gaming style?
